12-Year-Old Khimberly Zavaleta Dies After Being Struck During School Fight


A heartbreaking tragedy has left a community mourning the loss of Khimberly Zavaleta, a 12-year-old girl whose life was cut short after an incident at Reseda Charter High School. The young student reportedly stepped in to defend her older sister during a confrontation with other students, an act of courage that ultimately led to devastating consequences.

According to reports, the altercation took place on February 17 inside a school hallway. During the chaos, another student allegedly threw a metal water bottle that struck Khimberly in the head. Initially, the injury did not appear life-threatening. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation and later returned home. However, her condition soon worsened as she began experiencing severe headaches and alarming symptoms.

Within days, Khimberly collapsed after suffering a massive brain hemorrhage. She was rushed to UCLA Mattel Childrenโ€™s Hospital, where doctors placed her in a medically induced coma while attempting to stabilize her condition. Despite emergency brain surgery and the efforts of medical teams, Khimberly tragically passed away on February 25.

The case is now under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department Robbery-Homicide Division, as authorities review evidence and witness accounts to determine exactly what occurred during the incident. Reports indicate that a video of the moment has circulated online, adding to the growing concern surrounding the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.
