The Toowoomba community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Andrew “Drew” Bignell, who passed away on March 1, 2026, at just 36 years old. Drew’s sudden passing has left family, friends, and neighbors struggling to come to terms with the loss of a vibrant, generous, and deeply caring soul. Known for his warmth, humor, and unwavering loyalty, Drew had a remarkable ability to bring people together, creating bonds that extended far beyond his immediate circle.

Born on October 27, 1989, Drew was celebrated for his friendly, approachable nature and his capacity to make anyone feel seen and valued. Friends recall how his laughter could brighten a room, while his empathy and generosity fostered lasting friendships and support networks. Whether sharing school memories, supporting colleagues, or simply offering a kind word, Drew’s presence left a meaningful imprint on all who knew him.

Drew maintained a lifelong connection to the Toowoomba Anglican School, where he attended from 2000 to 2001. Past students and staff expressed profound sorrow, highlighting not only the personal loss but also the positive impact Drew had on the wider school community. His spirit of encouragement, kindness, and good humor remains a cherished memory for classmates and teachers alike.

A memorial service will be held at Clifford Park Racecourse in Toowoomba on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., inviting all who were touched by Drew to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, reflecting Drew’s spirit of care and support for the wider community.
