The community of Birr and family mourn the peaceful passing of Emlyn Gallagher on March 7th, 2026. Surrounded by his loving family and in the excellent care of Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore, Emlyn departed this life leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to those closest to him.

Pre-deceased by his parents, Rita and Pat Gallagher, and his parents-in-law, Nora and Michael Sullivan, Emlyn is survived by his beloved wife, AnneMarie, and their three cherished children: Alex, Emma, and Cliodhna. He will also be deeply missed by his brother Mel (Dublin), sister Pia Ryan (Portarlington), brothers-in-law Colin and Denis, and sister-in-law Breda, alongside his extended family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues who valued his gentle nature and warm presence.

Emlyn was fondly remembered for his calm demeanor, generosity, and the quiet strength he offered to those around him. Whether as a devoted husband, loving father, supportive brother, or trusted colleague, his life touched countless people, leaving memories that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

Reposing will take place at Boyd’s Funeral Home, Birr on Wednesday, March 11th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., allowing family and close friends to gather and pay their respects. A Funeral Mass will follow on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brendan’s Church, Birr, followed by burial at Clonoghill Cemetery, Birr. The family kindly requests that the house remain strictly private.
