Midday Crash on Highway 17 Leaves Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Los Gatos

Los Gatos, CA — A serious motorcycle crash on State Route 17 South left one rider critically injured early Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The collision occurred at approximately 12:01 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, near the State Route 9 eastbound on-ramp, a busy junction known for heavy weekend traffic.

CHP reports indicate the crash involved two vehicles—a motorcycle and a passenger car. Preliminary information from CHP logs shows the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on SR-17 when a vehicle ahead suddenly braked, triggering the collision. The impact caused the rider to be ejected from the motorcycle, leaving them lying in an active traffic lane.

Emergency responders, including CHP officers, fire crews, and medical personnel, quickly arrived at the scene. The injured motorcyclist was treated on-site before being transported for further medical care. Authorities confirmed the rider sustained serious injuries, though no details regarding their identity or current condition have been released. No arrests were reported at the scene.

The crash led to the temporary closure of at least one southbound lane on Highway 17 near the SR-9 interchange, resulting in traffic delays throughout the area. Lanes were later reopened once emergency crews cleared the scene and ensured roadway safety.
