Seattle, WA — The Rainier Beach community is reeling after a deadly shooting Friday afternoon claimed the lives of two people just steps away from Rainier Beach High School, sending shockwaves through south Seattle and raising renewed concerns about public safety near schools.
Seattle police responded to reports of gunfire around 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of Rainier Avenue South and South Henderson Street, a busy area adjacent to the high school campus. When officers arrived, they found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by Seattle Fire Department crews, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victims’ identities or ages, pending family notifications.
