A devastating and violent crime has left the Downers Grove, Illinois community in shock after a pregnant woman was brutally murdered and her apartment deliberately set ablaze. On January 26, 2026, just after 6:10 p.m., police officers and fire crews rushed to an apartment complex in the 2300 block of Ogden Avenue following reports of a structure fire. What they found inside was a scene of unimaginable tragedy.
First responders located Eliza Morales, 30, suffering from severe sharp-force injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators later confirmed Morales was pregnant, a fact that led to an additional charge related to the death of her unborn child. A second person inside the apartment was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital. Authorities also confirmed that an animal was killed during the incident, resulting in an animal cruelty charge.
Police arrested 19-year-old Nedas Revuckas, who now faces multiple felony charges including first-degree murder, armed robbery, aggravated arson, intentional homicide of an unborn child, and animal cruelty. Prosecutors revealed the events allegedly began after Moralesโ husband sold a 1994 Ford Ranger through Facebook Marketplace. Surveillance footage shows Morales meeting Revuckas at the building and later a visible struggle inside her unit.
Video evidence indicated someone attempted to escape the apartment before smoke began pouring from the unit. When emergency crews arrived minutes later, Morales was found unresponsive with multiple stab wounds. An autopsy later revealed she suffered approximately 70 stab wounds, most to her head and neck.
