A routine Monday morning turned fatal on San Antonio’s West Side when a father of three lost his life while attempting to repair his disabled vehicle along a busy highway. Authorities identified the victim as 34-year-old Miguel Martinez, whose death has left a family grieving and a community shaken.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, Martinez was driving along U.S. Highway 90 West near Cupples Road around 6 a.m. when his truck experienced mechanical problems. He pulled over onto the right shoulder, which investigators described as narrow with limited space for a stopped vehicle. As Martinez stood outside the truck trying to address the issue, a passing SUV struck him.
Tragically, the impact knocked Martinez into the roadway, where he was hit a second time by another vehicle moments later. Police said both drivers immediately stopped, called for help, and attempted life-saving measures until emergency responders arrived. Despite their efforts, Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.
