Rush-Hour Wreck Near Busy Mesa Intersection Leaves Four Hospitalized


Mesa, AZ — A busy Tuesday evening in Mesa took a sudden and dangerous turn after a multi-vehicle collision near the intersection of Gilbert Road and Southern Avenue sent four people to the hospital and temporarily shut down surrounding roadways.

According to the Mesa Police Department, the crash was reported on January 27, involving multiple vehicles under circumstances that remain under investigation. Officers arriving at the scene found at least two vehicles with severe front-end damage, indicating a powerful impact during the collision. Debris scattered across the roadway underscored the force of the crash and the danger faced by those involved.

Mesa Fire crews were called in to assist after discovering one individual trapped inside a damaged vehicle. Using specialized equipment, firefighters successfully extricated the victim, who was then transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Three additional patients were also taken to area hospitals, though the extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed by authorities.

As emergency responders worked to stabilize victims and clear the scene, roads in the area were temporarily closed, causing traffic delays during the evening commute. Motorists were urged to avoid the intersection while investigators documented evidence and worked to determine what led to the crash.
