The Maumelle Fire Department and the Conway community are in mourning after the sudden death of Firefighter Caleb Sackhoff, who tragically passed away off-duty on Thursday, January 22. Though his time with the department was briefโhaving only joined in August 2024โCaleb made a significant impact on those around him, quickly establishing himself as a dedicated member of Engine Company 1. His obituary highlights a young man with immense promise, recently honored with the Academic Achievement Award from the Arkansas Fire Training Academy.
Caleb, a licensed EMT, was known for his infectious energy, reliability, and deep commitment to his work. His peers describe him as highly motivated, always ready to serve and support his team. Fire Chief Beau Buford expressed the department’s heartbreak over the loss, noting that Caleb’s passing leaves a void in the firefighting brotherhood, where every member is valued for their sacrifice and dedication to public safety.
