Community Comes Together After Tragic Loss of Young Mother, Leaving Three Children Behind

A devastated community is rallying around the family of Cassandra “Cassie” Moon, 23, a young mother whose life was cut short by a heartbreaking act of domestic violence. Cassie, also known by her maiden name Cassie Clinger, was fatally shot by her husband, Christopher Moon, on Wednesday morning. Authorities later confirmed that Christopher died by suicide during an attempted negotiation with deputies.

Cassie’s father, Jared Clinger, fondly remembers his daughter as a vibrant, loving mother deeply devoted to her three young children—4-year-old Cash, 2-year-old Charlie, and 5-month-old Claire. “Cassie was a girl who lived life to the fullest,” Jared shared, highlighting her love for people, her children, and her work at the Alpine clinic where she helped others.

Though Cassie had battled mental health challenges in the past, Jared finds comfort in knowing that she had recently been in a good place, reconnecting with her family, navigating a difficult divorce, and preparing to start college again.
