Tragic Rollover Crash on I-10 Claims Three Lives, Leaves Two Injured in Quartzsite

Quartzsite, AZ – A devastating single-vehicle accident early Thursday morning on Interstate 10 in Quartzsite has left three people dead and two others hospitalized. The incident occurred around 5:45 a.m. on January 22, when a vehicle with multiple occupants lost control, veered off the roadway, and rolled over.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) responded promptly to the scene, along with fire and medical personnel, after receiving reports of the crash. Tragically, three people were confirmed dead at the scene, while two others were transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. The identities of the deceased and the injured parties have not been released at this time.

Details regarding the cause of the accident remain unclear, as authorities continue to investigate. It is unknown what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, though speed, weather, or other factors may have played a role. Fortunately, there were no traffic disruptions on the northbound side of I-10 following the crash, and the roadway was cleared relatively quickly.

This tragedy underscores the ongoing challenges of road safety in Arizona. While the state has seen a slight decrease in overall traffic incidents over the past two years, the number of fatalities remains high. In 2023, Arizona reported 122,247 motor-vehicle crashes, resulting in 1,307 deaths. Although there was a small decrease in fatalities in 2024, the numbers remain concerning, highlighting the need for continued efforts to improve road safety.

As the investigation continues, our thoughts go out to the families of those involved, and we hope for a swift recovery for the two individuals who were injured. This tragic accident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and caution on the road.
