A devastating off-highway vehicle (OHV) rollover in western Utah County has claimed the life of 14-year-old Jalee Anderson, leaving her family, friends, and community in mourning. The tragic accident occurred on Friday night when Jalee, along with five other teens, was riding in an OHV.
According to the Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the crash resulted in one passenger being ejected from the vehicle and airlifted to a Salt Lake County hospital, while another teen sustained broken bones and is expected to recover. Sadly, Jalee was critically injured in the incident and was airlifted to Primary Childrenโs Hospital. Despite all efforts, she passed away on Sunday morning from her injuries.
Jalee was a beloved student at Payson Junior High School, where she was known for her love of softball. She was riding with friends at the time of the accident, and her aunt shared that the group had been enjoying an outing when the tragedy struck. The remaining teens involved in the crash were not seriously hurt but are now left to cope with the devastating loss of their friend.
The Genola community has rallied around the Anderson family during this heartbreaking time. A Venmo link has been shared on social media to help the family with funeral expenses.
The DNR has stated that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the rollover. They also issued a reminder to families about the risks of OHVs, emphasizing that while these vehicles are designed for unimproved terrain, they come with significant challenges in navigating such environments.
