It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert William “Bob” Corlett, age 94, who died peacefully on January 21, 2026, at Percy’s Place. Bob was born on June 2, 1931, in Rochester, New York, and led a life full of devotion, achievement, and service to others. His family, friends, and community will forever cherish his legacy.
Bob’s love story began with Grace, the woman he shared 67 years of marriage with, and together they built a family and a life grounded in mutual respect and love. He was predeceased by his father, Clyde Corlett, a World War II veteran; his mother, Esther Lesso Corlett, a trailblazing female mutual fund broker; his daughter, Corrie Esther; his sister, Les Riley; and his granddaughter, Meghan.
A gifted athlete, Bob excelled in sports and even played semi-professional baseball for the Rochester Americans, a AAA farm team of the Baltimore Orioles. His baseball journey included a memorable meeting with the legendary Satchel Paige. Later, Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and went on to earn both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Springfield College, where he was part of a National Championship soccer team.
In 1973, Bob moved his family to the Miramichi, where he became a beloved educator at James M. Hill High School. Bob’s influence as a teacher and coach extended beyond the classroom; he developed the Leadership Program, won provincial soccer championships, and founded the Tommies Minor Basketball Association. Known as “Coach” to many, Bob was deeply committed to instilling life skills in his students.
Bob’s family, including his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, continues to honor his memory. He will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for teaching, and his dedication to the community.
Visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home on January 28, 2026, with the funeral service to take place at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Miramichi on January 29, 2026. Donations in Bob’s memory can be made to Vondi House, Percy’s Place, or a charity of your choice.
